Extra Curricular Activities
Over the year we offer the children a wide range of after school activities. We do not charge for any after school clubs. The opportunities include:

Film Club
Choir
Various sporting clubs
Cookery Club
Sewing Club
Bingo Club
Before and After School – Wrap Around Care
Run by the school, Fun Club runs from 7.30am to 9.00am and then 3.15pm to 6.00pm to provide childcare for our families.
Additional childcare may also be offered in holidays.

We are so proud of our Year 6 children again after today’s Reading test. They showed determination, resilience and fantastic focus from start to finish.
The texts were challenging, but they gave every question their best effort and kept smiling throughout the day.

They walked in with courage.
They stayed focused.
They kept going even when some questions were tricky.

What a wonderful, busy day Year 3 have had at Preston Park!
When they arrived, they headed straight to the learning area, in the museum, to find out who the Anglo-Saxons were and how long ago they lived. The children discovered that they lived in Britain after the Romans but they led very different lives. Did you know that many place names in our region originate from Anglo-Saxon times and 'Darlington' is one of them?
Being history detectives, the class enjoyed examining some interesting replicas of artefacts that would have used during this period of history and they would even have been buried with people back then. One of the objects that they looked at was a leather pouch that contained lots of glass beads, which may have been used to play games, so we played an Anglo-Saxon game called 'Nine Men's Morris' which was great fun. Then they created their own beautiful clay pots like some of the ones they saw on display.
After a lovely picnic lunch, the class explored the Victorian Street and enjoyed going into some of the buildings where they learned many interesting facts. Today, Reception had an amazing time joining a live lesson with Greg Botrill to celebrate National Hairy Toe Day! 👣✨
The children got stuck into some fantastic creative activities—making their very own hairy toes and designing houses for them to live in. There were so many imaginative ideas, but our absolute favourite had to be the “Hairy-plane” 🚀—a brilliant invention to help the hairy toe escape the tiny monster!
Everyone had so much fun, with lots of laughter, creativity and brilliant ideas all round. What a fantastic experience for the class! 💛

Class Newsletters with curriculum information and dates for the Summer Term will be coming home with the children in the next few days, but I wanted to give you early notice of the dates for this year's Sports Days.
With the unpredictable nature of our weather, we are holding our Sports Days slightly earlier this year so that if we do have to postpone we have enough time to find an alternative date later in the term. Also, the weather in May is often lovely and not quite as hot as it can potentially get in June/July.
The dates are as follow:
Nursery: Tuesday 19th May 9.00am - parents and carers are invited to come in for a tea or coffee at 8.30am while the children get ready for their Sports Day which will run from 9.00am to approximately 9.45am.
Reception, Class One and Class Two: Tuesday 19th May from 1.30pm until hometime
Classes Three, Four, Five and Six: Wednesday 20th May from 1.30pm until hometime
